NEWBURG LAW

Criminal Defense

Our lawyers have been part of some of the biggest cases, not just in the state of Michigan but in the United States. For nearly 15 years, we have represented people charged with Felonies and Misdemeanors ranging in severity from 90 days in the county jail to life without parole. Our aggressive style of defending our clients have resulted in not guilty verdicts, the denial of criminal charges against our clients and reductions in charges from felonies to misdemeanors. Our founding member Matt Newburg was selected as a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers from 2014-2018 and a “Super Lawyer” from 2019-2023. With extensive experience in both Federal and State Courts, we have have handled the following types of offenses:

  • Murder
  • Criminal Sexual Conduct
  • White Collar Crimes
  • Assault
  • Car Accidents Resulting in Death
  • Drug Offenses
  • Drunk Drivings

Our results speak for themselves.

Criminal Sexual Conduct

Child Abuse 1st Degree

After a multi-day preliminary examination, the Judge dismissed the charges against our client altogether dismissing the case at the first possible opportunity.

Operating While intoxicated Causing Death

After a week long jury trial, a jury returned a verdict of not guilty for a client who was charged with having a controlled substance in his system and, after a car accident, caused the death of a motorcyclist.

Murder

After a two week jury trial, a client was found Not Guilty of Murder in the first or second degree after the shooting death of a close friend of our clients.

Assault

No charges were issues after we successfully provided the police with facts contradicting the complainant’s version of events.

Home Invasion

A client was charged with 1st Degree Home Invasion after helping an elderly individual get home. After a preliminary examination the court found there was no basis for the charged offenses and dismissed the case.
