Matt Newburg
Practicing since 2007, Matt Newburg has represented clients throughout Michigan in serious and complex criminal cases—from prominent professionals and public officials to some of the most vulnerable people in the criminal justice system.
In addition to his private practice, Matt serves on the Executive Leadership Team of the Eaton County Public Defender’s Office and the State Bar of Michigan Representative Assembly. He is also a contributing author for ICLE, providing commentary on Michigan criminal jury instructions.
Matt has been recognized by Michigan Super Lawyers every year since 2019, after being selected to Rising Stars from 2014–2018.
For nearly two decades, his approach has remained simple: prepare relentlessly, communicate honestly, and provide every client with a defense worthy of what is at stake.

Founder, Attorney
Maddox Newburg
Maddox Newburg is a student at Grand Ledge High School and an intern with Newburg Law. With an interest in criminal justice and the legal system, Maddox plans to pursue criminal justice studies in college.
As an intern, Maddox assists the attorneys and staff with the day-to-day work that goes into preparing and managing criminal cases. His responsibilities include downloading and organizing discovery materials, assisting with file management, conducting final administrative reviews of pleadings and other documents, organizing case materials, and helping ensure files are complete and prepared for court.
The internship gives Maddox an opportunity to see the criminal justice system from inside a working law practice while learning the importance of preparation, organization, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
Outside the office, Maddox is a student-athlete at Grand Ledge High School, where he plays varsity basketball.
